Villa Loghino is built at the feet of a woody hill, on the right bank of Era river, in a zone full of excursion paths that are between forests, rivers and gully, in the heart of a suggestive Tuscan landscape. It is located in the open country, completely gathered in the green tonalities, nearly to guard the local fauna, still numerous. Villa Loghino is at 5 km from the historical town Volterra, its position permits to the guests to get easily the sea (40 Km) and the main principal towns such as Siena (50 Km), San Gimignano (20 Km), Florence (90 Km) and Pisa (60 Km).
The story tells that Villa Loghino was originally the first oil mill at Volterra, facilitated by the presence of harvesting olive fields and by the abundance of the river waters. Then it was leaved apart and it became the cardinal house and then, only for few years, it was habitated by some families and farmers.
In 1980 the whole property was bought by the couple Carla and Vittorio Scali, who began immediately a careful restauration of the owners house in order to make a residence for lovers of Tuscany.
Rooms
Villa Loghino offer to the guests also double rooms, all with internal bathroom, independent heating and independent entrance.
Characterized by their romantic and refined atmosphere, are all carefully furnished. The guests can choose from the following rooms :
1. La Torre and Gli amanti
2. La Luna, with the possibility to add another bed
3. L'Imperatrice
At the ground floor, where once was the stable, is now a cosy hall where breakfast, included in price, is served.In the price of the rooms is included the breakfast service.
Volterra
Volterra, dominates from high all the valley of Cecina river. It is 550 meters high and it is considered as an art jewel because it was inhabitated since etruscan age and it is rich in roman, Medieval and Reinassance traces. Isolated, but in a strategic position and nearly equidistant from the main centers of the region, Volterra has always kept its peculiar fisionomy, including however all the different traditions of Tuscany.
The current aspect of the city is the medioeval one. During the medioeval Age were built numerous houses-towers and the main public buildings enclosed within the walls still existing. Nonetheless the village reveals also the presence of other ancient civilizations: from the etruscan to the roman one are testifyed not only by the ancient walls and monuments but also in the numerous museums of the town. Etruscan are the walls, the imposing arch, the only one still existing and intact, the tombs and the numerous and precious archeological founds in Museo Etrusco Guarnacci, one of the oldest museum in Europe, where are Ombra della Sera, whose profile is really unique, and the beautiful jewels, finely worked. Romans are Acropolis and Thetre, as well as a part of the walls.
