Since the 19 th century, many hotels have been built and have linked their names to the history of a glorious sport, mountaineering . The high towering peaks of Civetta, Pelmo and Marmolada attracted numerous mountaineers with their hemp ropes. It was they who conquered those inviolate peaks for the first time! Many famous climbers still consider Alleghe their favourite departure point, especially if they are going to climb the northern wall of the Civetta.

Nowadays Alleghe is a renowned tourist resort, one of the favourite destinations of mountain lovers. The lake plays a fundamental role in this sense as in winter one can skate on its frozen surface. Right there many national hockey players were "born" and "raised" in the local team. In 1979 the CIVETTA SKIING DISTRICT was created: it comprises the ski areas of Alleghe, Selva di Cadore, Palafavera and the Zoldo Valley , for a total of 80 km of ski runs.

ALLEGHE ( 979 m .) is one of the most famous holiday resort of the Dolomites, on the left bank of the Alleghe lake. It offers turists a particulary and quiet environment for a summer holiday. .
